Helmet to amerykański alternatywny zespół rockowy z Nowego Jorku założony w 1989 roku przez wokalistę i gitarzystę prowadzącego Page'a Hamiltona. Od 2010 roku w skład zespołu wchodzą Hamilton, perkusista Kyle Stevenson, gitarzysta Dan Beeman i basista Dave Case.
Helmet wydał osiem albumów studyjnych i dwa kompilacyjne. Po wydaniu debiutanckiego krążka “Strap It On” (1990) w wytwórni Amphetamine Reptile, Helmet podpisał kontrakt z Interscope Records i wydał trzy płyty dla tej wytwórni, w tym bardzo udane “Meantime” (1992), “Betty” (1994) i “Aftertaste” (1997). Helmet rozpadł się w 1998 roku, ale ponownie zjednoczył się w 2004 roku i od tego czasu wydał cztery kolejne albumy - “Size Matters” (2004), “Monochrome” (2006), “Seeing Eye Dog” (2010) i “Dead to the World” (2016).
W czerwcu 2021 roku zespół wydał za pośrednictwem swojej strony internetowej limitowaną edycję box setu zatytułowaną “Move On” zawierającą 4 x 7” single, w tym następujące covery i utwory na żywo: Move on (David Bowie) z More Bad News live, Mercy (Wire) z Rollo live, ETI (Blue Oyster Cult) z Blacktop live, I’m only sleeping (The Beatles) z Crisis King live.
W 2023 roku zespół powrócił do studia, aby nagrać swój dziewiąty album “Left’, który został wydany przez earMusic w listopadzie 2023 roku.
