Zaczynając od garażowych prób i samodzielnie organizowanych koncertów, almost monday – Dawson Daugherty (wokal), Cole Clisby (gitara) i Luke Fabry (bas) – wkroczyli na scenę muzyczną w 2020 roku z brzmieniem, które ucieleśnia esencję słonecznej Kalifornii. Ich debiutancka EP-ka „don’t say you’re ordinary”, wyprodukowana wspólnie z Markiem Needhamem (The Killers, Fleetwood Mac) i Simonem Oscroftem (The Naked and Famous, DREAMERS), szybko zyskała popularność dzięki przebojom takim jak: „parking lot view” i „come on come on”. Ich zaraźliwa energia i pełne mocy hity, szczególnie „broken people” wraz z remiksem Sofi Tukker, przyciągnęły uwagę, wprowadzając ich do Top 20 na liście Alternative Radio.
W 2021 roku almost monday kontynuowali swoje sukcesy z drugą EP-ką „til the end of time” i singlami, takimi jak: „live forever” i „cool enough”, zdobywając uznanie od Alternative Press, Forbes, People, GQ Australia, Earmilk, Flaunt, Ones To Watch i innych. Debiuty festiwalowe na Lollapalooza, BottleRock i Firefly oraz występy na jednej scenie z Kings of Leon, Dayglow, Walk The Moon i Joywave umocniły ich rosnącą pozycję. Pasmo sukcesów trwało dalej w 2022 roku, gdy wydali inspirowane wybrzeżem single, takie jak: „sunburn” i „sun keeps on shining”, a ten ostatni osiągnął sukces radiowy, plasując się w Top 10 na Sirius XM Alt Nation i w Top 20 na Alternative Radio. Zespół zdobył także tytuł oficjalnej piosenki Vans US Open of Surfing 2022. Występy na festiwalach, takich jak Governor’s Ball, WonderBus i Innings Festival, a także trasy po Ameryce Północnej i Południowej z The Driver Era oraz koncerty w Japonii i Korei Południowej zakończyły rok.
W 2023 roku almost monday utrzymali swój indie-popowy urok dzięki występom na festiwalach, takich jak: WonderRoad, Wonderstruck, Have A Nice Trip (Korea) i Life is Beautiful oraz trasom koncertowym z AJR, Weathers i The Driver Era. W 2023 roku ukazała się seria singli, na czele z energetycznym „only wanna dance”, który miał premierę w V Magazine, „coast to coast”, refleksyjnym „life goes by” i „sweet feelings”.
